Designing Change is the second volume by DP Design following Designing Spaces. Unique and engaging, Designing Change is a visual discourse into the creative psyche of the interior-architects at DP Design; exploring and illustrating how designing an interior space goes beyond a direct, strategic response to a building’s intrinsic architectural form to examine and embody the evolving relationship between man and built environment.

Recognizing that change is the only constant in an ever-progressing world, the book simultaneously rethinks design and inspires new paradigm in the firm’s design approach and perspective on space. Drawing on over 30 years of experience in the interior design, space planning and project management industry, Designing Change combines design concepts and short stories with imagery to provide an in-depth look at the fundamentals and perceptions of interior spaces so as to relook the practice of interior design today.

DP Design works independently on both local and international projects. As an integral part of the Singapore-based international architecture practice, DP Architects; the firm also works hand-in-hand with the DPA group of companies, leveraging on the full benefits of involving its other deeply related disciplines.

With a deep concern for the built environment, DP Design (DPD) seeks to create spaces – spaces that are memorable, relevant and sustainable, and has delivered a sterling international body of works. The design firm takes a holistic approach to interior spaces, a direct response to a building’s intrinsic architectural and formal relationships, endeavouring to preserve and enhance the natural behaviour of a building. In doing so, DPD creates environments that seamlessly integrate people, architecture, technology and the ultimate purpose of the space.

Architecturally trained, Mike Lim is the principal designer of DPD and a director at DP Architects. Responsible for the concept design and design development across a wide range of building type, he believes that the commitment to perfection permeates every facet of a designer’s life. Notably, Mike was the interior designer of The Dubai Mall, Doha Festival City (Doha, Qatar), Cinemaxx Junior (Jakarta, Indonesia) as well as prominent projects in Singapore such as Resorts World Sentosa, Paragon Shopping Centre and the recently completed unique “hotels within a hotel” One Farrer Hotel and Spa, YOTEL Singapore, and Our Tampines Hub, Singapore’s pioneer model of an integrated sports and lifestyle community hub.
